Tardiness and Early Dismissals

Excessive Tardiness & Early Dismissals

We need your support in ensuring your child has maximum use of class time and learn to be punctual and complete a full day of class.

Instruction begins at 8:45 a.m. Your child should be in school by 8:30 a.m. in order to be ready to start instruction at 8:45 a.m. Beginning the day promptly is important and demonstrates commitment to successThe school day ends at 3:15 p.m.

Students who are consistently tardy and/or leave early miss important classwork that happens each day. Learning the responsibility of getting to class on time and attending a full day of school instruction is an integral part of Harrison Elementary School’s standard of excellence, which prepares students for success.

Per district policy, and state regulation N.J.S.A. 18A:36-14; 18A:36-25, a student who has been tardy to class three times in any one month will be counted as absent from school one day.

Please understand that every time your child is tardy in the morning, he/she is missing valuable instructional time in the subjects that are taught in the morning.  And every time your child leaves for an early dismissal in the afternoon, he/she is missing valuable instructional time in the subjects that are taught in the afternoon.

All absences from instruction (including full day absences, early dismissals, and tardiness), may affect your child’s educational success, and have a negative impact on his/her grades .

LET’S WORK TOGETHER TO ENSURE YOUR CHILD’S SUCCESS IN EDUCATION.
